The ultimate, god-like format of photo-presentation, the light box, jumps off the wall and into my arms. A friend told me that throughout the lifetime of a coral, it exists in three totally different states; animal, plant, mineral. A conversation about the malleable, transient existence of coral illuminates possibilities for otherwise fixed symbolic figures, the formalities of objectification- of objects meant to serve, bearing some tenderness- to imagine definites becoming fluid again.
Structure made from steel sheet, MIG weld, fluorescent tubes, acrylic sheet, matte peel print. 40”x 26”.
